It has been five weeks since I venture into Corinthian Wellness Spa and saw my favorite aesthetician, Kristian to try Fractional Radiofrequency MicroNeedling.
I have not been bold enough yet to try IPL Laser. Mainly because Lasers are great but, in darker skin tones there is a risk of burning if the technician is not skilled. One day I may try it with Kristian who is the best here and has been mine aesthetician the last four years. I have my other favorite in Atlanta: Lisa Lee who treated my skin for eight years. I have been with Kristian for around four years now.
MicroNeedling is a delicate treatment and because it is a delicate minimally invasive treatment, I urge you to always go to a place and somebody who uses the highest standards in sterilization and if possible, who is familiar with your skin, health and condition.
The idea of micro-needling is to create micro-injuries to the skin (gentle punctures) with the use of handheld mechanical device with ultra-fine disposable sterile needle tips. The theory is that the skin has an incredible power of healing and as a result of the healing response, there is an increased production of collagen and elastin. Right after the procedure, professional products suggested like Biopelle Tensage Intensive Serum are infused to the skin for deeper penetration of nutrients and growth factors.
Once I arrived to the Spa, I was greeted and escorted to the lockers to save my belonging and change into a rob. Once I was ready, I was escorted to the waiting area and was offered a drink which unlike many people I choose tea or water instead of the mimosa or champagne. If I am with friends I may drink a glass of mimosa but I prefer to not mix alcohol with skincare.
One of the girls applied a numbing cream in all my face and neck after it is cleaned.
After around twenty minutes Kristian greeted me and escorted me to her new area. All in pink with her name bold on the main wall. She proceeded to clean my skin again, followed by gently puncture my skin with the use of the handheld device with ultrafine needles delivering the RF energy. Some areas like the forehead are more sensitive and they are not completely painless but not bad. I must say I have a very low tolerance for physical pain.
It is with Radio Frequency that the energy is delivered into the skin resulting in protected post-procedure skin, the healing is faster, the results more dramatic than with the micro needling treatment alone. This is because the energy is delivered into the inner layer of the skin, not on top.
One of the immediate results I observed the following day, besides glowing skin, is pore tightening and more volume on the skin. For up to eight months after the treatment, the skin will continue to become smoother and tighter.
RF Microneedling is recommended to treat:
- Acne Scarring
- Uneven Skin Tone Pigmentation
- Tightening Enlarged Pores
- Fine Lines and Wrinkles
- Skin Lifting, Tightening, and Contouring
- Minimize Stretch Marks
- General Skin Rejuvenation
One of the reasons I chose this treatment over Laser is because this procedure is safer for darker skin tones or skin prone to hyperpigmentation or scaring.
I was ready to show my face twenty fours after post-treatment and makeup can be worn, but I just used eye makeup and lipstick the next day because I was still not sure.
I am including pictures for you to see what the real results were. These are not altered pictures, do not have any filters at all.
Do I do it again? Yes, I would. I loved the results!
