I have tried a couple of products from Glow Recipe in the past. I read good reviews in Sephora about this line when it was beginning to sell in Sephora, but I did not experience what the reviews claimed at the time. I was a little hesitant of trying other products, but an Eye Mask caught my attention.
The concept of the Eye Sleeping mask intrigued me. However, although my experience with this particular mask is very positive, I have reached to the conclusion that sleeping masks seem s to be a night cream or gel. At this point, I don’t find what the difference is unless it is the percentage of active products in each formula. Unfortunately, these are not visible in the packaging of the products. We have to rely on the results in the skin.
Going back to the Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask, I must say that this product impressed me. I must say that I did not try the face version because I feel that it will be too rich for combined skin.
One of the ingredients that caught my attention was Avocado. It reminded me of an eye cream by Kielhl I used when I was younger. Avocado is rich, full of antioxidants, and omega acids to combat environmental aggressors and moisturize the delicate area around our eyes.
Retinol helps to control uneven skin tone but because the formula is encapsulated Retinol, it is gentler to the skin than pure Retinol which can cause dryness. We don’t want dry skin around our eyes.
It also contains Hyaluronic acid to hydrate the area. This is great because during the night time we lose hydration during our sleeping time.
Another ingredient that it is common in depuffing eye creams is Coffeeberry. This serves as another antioxidant to revitalize, depuff and brighten the under-eye area.
I alternate this mask with my regular eye cream. I was very happy with the results the next morning, the first night I used the product. I look awake in the morning and noticed increased elasticity around the eye area. I use my eyes a lot when I talk therefore, I smile with my eyes as well. I need to see the movement around the eye area and not have only one expression the whole morning.
Last but not less important is the fact that this product is cruelty-free, and its packaging is recyclable.
Do I recommend this Eye Mask, Yes! This product does what it claims but it is not a miracle worker. Sometimes I feel that some people have false expectations from very good products. It helps brighten the under-eye area to give a rested skin but if the person genetically has dark circles, then that it is very difficult to combat. In these cases, I recommend visiting a dermatologist to evaluate options. A couple of months ago, I visited one because I had a dark scar after a fall. I knew that it needed time and there are no brightening products that can really even the skin tone. It was the best decision. I received a prescribed paste and it is much better. It helped accelerate the healing process.
