Facials is an indulgence for many people. Nowadays there are normal Spa Facials but also the Medical Grade Facials plus all the other add on. It is self-care to me. I don’t go every month but I surely try.
I don’t relax easily with massages. With the exception of one masseuse that I had in Atlanta I don’t feel very comfortable with strangers touching me for a long period of time. I also have not found any benefit to it. That does not mean that there are no benefits. Maybe I have not find the right massage.
Facials is another story. I find that I relax with them and at the same time I learned a lot about the condition of my skin, what new products and technologies are in the market. Some are riskier than others, some are more invasive. I am not a risky person. I don’t risk my face if it requires to compromise any burn, scaring or the protective layer of my skin but I am into exfoliating and hydration.
This is why I have tried “OxyGeneo” Facial and later on the “Hydrofacial”. This is my experience with both of them.
I tried once the OxyGeneo facial at Serendipity Spa in Southlake Texas. This super facial works by exfoliating the skin while at the same time infusing nutrients while increasing oxygen levels in the skin.
Once you arrive to Serendipity, Sierra or Brandy greets you. These girls are passionate about what they do while at the same time they are lots of fun. The atmosphere in this spa is Airy. Lots of white and their décor approach is minimalistic.
Once you pass the front desk you are directed to the reception area. They offer you mimosas, water or tea and if there is birthday, they have a very small birthday cake. You will be directed to the changing room to change to a robe and then you can be directed to your service.
The OxyGeneo facial last fifty minutes and has three main steps. The first step begins after the aethetician cleans the skin. Once the skin is clean, she exfoliates (using the machine) the upper skin layer to prepare it to receive the nutrients in the next step.
After exfoliating the skin, then the aesthetician uses the “Capsugen” to cleanse the skin and at the same time infuse nutrient active ingredients. It can be to brighten the skin with Azelaic Acid, Konjic Acid and Retinol. Or for rejuvenation which is my favorite with Hyaluronic acid, Peptides and Retinol
Once this step is finished, then it comes the Oxygenate step. With the machine, it produces CO2 bubbles. These bubbles are the culprit for sending oxygen rich blood to the face which helps with the absorption of active ingredients. The theory behind is that the increase of CO2 results in a decrease in the blood PH and this is what makes the release and infusion of oxygen.
This facial is safe for all skin types and claim to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, improves skin cell production, increase collagen and restore skin volume while it fights hyperpigmentation.
The immediate result was a glowing, refreshed skin. Initially the skin looks and feels very plump but later on it contoured itself to my features while it looks pore-less and radiant.
I like the immediate effect of this facial and if it is in the menu of a SPA, I will do it again because it is safe and have immediate results.
The following month I went for the Hydrafacial and this is the one that even though it is a little bit more expensive for one hour, I actually prefer this one. I find them very similar in terms of the immediate results. I think it is a matter of preference. I did it first in Corinthian Spa in Southlake TX and have it also at Serendipity Day Spa.
The “Hydrafacial” has also three steps Medical grade fascial using the “Hydrafacial” machine. It begins with a Cleansing and Peel step. The difference is how it does it. Using the device, the aesthetician exfoliate dead skin. With the use of a serum called Glysal (for Glycolic and Salicylic Acid), it delivers the peel effect in combination with a nutrient solution that penetrates the pores at the same time. It feels like small brushing in the skin but again infusing the skin with a feeling cold and liquid. It felt like someone was writing on my skin.
The second step is Extract and Hydrate. I love the extraction step in facials because I like clean pores but I am not a fan of how this step is performed. This is where this facial excel. The aesthetician uses a nozzle that circulates a liquid and it vacuum the clogged pores for a painless clean extraction.
The last step is when the skin is saturated with a hydrating serum full of antioxidants and peptides to address hyperpigmentation, fine lines, sun damage, excess of sebum and acne.
I felt and had a super clean, smooth, hydrated and glowing skin. The effect lasted by far longer than any other facial I had. It is recommended monthly to address the hyperpigmentation and acne issues but in my case is more of added benefit to my daily skincare routine, specially the extraction part. Feel free to comment below about your experience or if you want to know who do I recommend for these facials, drop me a line below.

It also depends where you do it. There are places that offer it for thirty minutes but I prefer the fifty minutes service becuase it give me the Spa experieence.
